Kirisute Gomen is the first of the three releases from Trivium's album Shogun. It was made available as a free digital download through the Roadrunner Records website for 24 hours on July 31, 2008 (2008-07-31). The phrase "Kirisute Gomen" is of Japanese origin, meaning “authorization to cut and leave.” A more interpretive translation would be “right to strike”. A samurai had the right to kill with a sword anyone of a lower rank if the samurai percieved that they infringed on his honor.
