As a contrast to the suffering of other Lebanese individuals throughout Attempted Martyr, Joumana Kayrouz focuses on Kayrouz' success in America, possibly explaining the narrator's obsession with her. After signing with British independent label Mute and rereleasing Attempted Martyr, the sample of Thomas Bangalter's 2002 song Rectum was subsequently removed from the track.
