The "Jill" of the title is Jill McLean who was a force in the mpls music scene of the 80's and 90's, and the song celebrates her awakening upon moving to Mpls. and finding her niche in its' music scene. Jill moved from Nebraska to Mpls., and quickly became not only a consumer of the music scene, but an asset to the local music scene of the time. Jill McLean worked for the seminal music label Twin-Tone (and thru Twin-Tone she founded the short-lived Clean lable)
