Written by Kandi Burruss and Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs, this song is about a guy going through a breakup and still having feelings for his ex. He is heartbroken when he sees her with a total jerk. Burruss and Briggs also wrote "No Scrubs" for TLC and "Bills, Bills, Bills" for Destiny's Child. Their trademark was rap melodies for verses; Burruss said Justin Timberlake suggested calling it "mapping," as in rapping with melody. The song was sampled by Ariana Grande on her 2019 hit single "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored ."
