Shilo, our protagonist, is fed up with her father and being locked up. She is under the impression that she has a blood disease, and that she can’t go outside because of this disease. She is also told that her mother had it, and that’s why her mother died. During this song, she sings to a portrait of her mother, stating that her genetics are what’s caused her to suffer and be separated from the world. Much later into the movie, we learn that Shilo does not actually have a blood disease
