"In My Darkest Hour" is a song by the American thrash metal band Megadeth, included on their third studio album, "So Far, So Good... So What!" (1988). The song was written by band leader Dave Mustaine following the death of Metallica bassist Cliff Burton in September 1986. Mustaine has stated in interviews and television documentaries that the music was influenced by Burton’s passing, while the lyrics were written in collaboration with bassist David Ellefson and reflect a separate personal relationship.
