Diverting from the overall album themes of finding joy after heartbreak, this song follows a protagonist who after witnessing the clinical death of a dear one, probably a family member, maybe a parent, which would connect directly to Michelle Zauner personal life, suffered severe trauma with the experience. As Michelle has suggested in an interview the song finds her administering her dog two shots to put it down and thinking about the way her mother who died after being in a coma several weeks and suffering.
