"Iggin' Me", released in 1997 as the first single off his comeback album Long Time No See, came to define the second phase of Chico DeBarge's career, taking on the burgeoning neo-soul movement and leaving behind the synth-heavy pop-R&B he was known for in the late 1980s. Thematically, the song tackles the protagonist seeing an ex-lover who is now with another man. He is tormented by the fact that he seemingly gave the girl everything, only for her to pass him up for someone new.
