If You Need Me is a 1963 song written by Robert Bateman, Wilson Pickett and Sonny Sanders and originally recorded by Wilson Pickett and was made into a hit by Solomon Burke, who sent the song to #2 on the R&B charts that year and was covered by the Hep Stars in 1965 for their first 'live album "Hep Stars On Stage". Recorded on March 15, 1963, the song which was written and recorded originally by Wilson Pickett for Lloyd Price's Detroit-based Double L Records, which had been rejected by Wexler, but who had purchased the publishing rights.
