"I Don't Want to Wait" is a song by singer-songwriter Paula Cole released as the second single from her second album 'This Fire' on October 14, 1997. Written & produced by her, the song was written about her grandfather she never knew who had passed when her mother was 13. Paula Cole wrote I Don't Want To Wait at her spinet piano in her apartment in New York City. Described by Paula as "a very personal song", she wrote the song when she realized that her grandfather was near the end of his life.
