"This is another song about college. The houses and buildings referenced in the song are the rows of graffiti-ridden brick buildings I would pass in North Philadelphia on the train going to school, half of them being abandoned. It was just sort of depressing. The shades of red were the different shades of red all the brick building were, as well as representing the shades of red paint depicted in the album art. The piano part you hear at the end is actually the original demo of the song
