From Cape Town SA. Pumeza grew up singing in church choirs where she was introduced to Oratorio choruses. Although Pumeza s family has several amateurs musicians, been her mother an amateur singer, Pumeza did not have formal training in opera until her 22 years old. The contact with the genre came through the radio and visits to public libraries. Her trajectory, from the townships of Cape Town- where she remembers the tension erupted by the fight against apartheid- to the Stuttgart Opera is considered quite impressive.
