This song is mainly about Daniel Caesar’s loved one turning her back on him, and Daniel simply stating, “if you love me, let me hear you say it.” The ending, however, is her response. The baseline of what she was saying was, “so what if I do, will you hold me down, be my rock,” ergo the title.
