"Hit Me with Your Best Shot" is a song written by Eddie Schwartz and recorded by Pat Benatar in 1979. It was released as the first single from her second album Crimes of Passion. Schwartz said that he came up with the title of the song after attending a "pillow punching" therapy session in Toronto, but stated that the title is to be taken metaphorically. Hit Me With Your Best Shot reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 weeks between December 1980 & January 1981, becoming Pat's first top 10 single.
