History is the 13th track on the HIStory Continues disc of HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1. Background vocals by Boyz II Men. Over 6 minutes in length, it samples a composition from television movie, Beethoven Lives Upstairs and features various quotations from figures such as himself, Neil Armstrong, Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X and more. For the remaining minute (when Michael stops singing), dates and notable events are mentioned by commentators. An alternate opening fanfare is present on some region's releases.
