According to the Hello World Songfacts, Someone gave Hillary Scott a demo version of this song when she was going through a little bit of a rough time. She left it on her iPod as it gave her hope when having a bad day. When she finally played the track to her two bandmates it almost brought the trio to tears and they knew straight away they wanted to record it.
