Alexander 23 opens his 2022 with “Hate Me If It Helps,” a raw pop-rock tune that sees the Chicago-based artist dive into the unpleasant memories of a past relationship and clap back with irony at his ex-lover, who keeps blaming him for everything that went wrong between them in order to ignore her personal failures. The single notably witnesses a new collaboration between Alexander, fellow singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo and Dan Nigro, after the artist scored a production credit for Rodrigo’s 2021 major hit “good 4 u”.
