During her 2020 New Zealand-wide tour, BENEE played several unreleased songs as part of her set, including “Happen To Me.” On October 15, 2020, BENEE announced her debut album "Hey u x", consequently revealing titles for the unreleased tracks. Before performing the track at her October 17 live-streamed show in Auckland, BENEE shared: "This is a little song that I wrote about my fears of everything!" "This is probably is my favourite track on the album, possibly my favourite song that I’ve made.
