Carlie grapples with her sense of self-worth in “Good Enough”, resorting to smoking and isolation as a defense mechanism. An August 2020 Idolator article quotes Carlie saying: “I wrote ‘Good Enough’ during one of the darkest periods of my life. My relationship was fizzling, I missed being with my family and friends, and at the time I was on a prescription medication that was really negatively affecting me. I just felt so lonely and hopeless.
