“Gethsemane” is the first single from the thirteenth Car Seat Headrest album, The Scholars. The title of the track references the Biblical garden at the base of Mount of Olives, where Jesus prayed to be delivered from his impending suffering, was betrayed by Judas Iscariot, and arrested prior to the crucifixion. Snippets of the track were first released via an alternate reality game on the band’s website, beginning on February 18th, 2025, eventually leading to the full track and the album’s cover being revealed.
