James wrote "Get Down Jaco" while living with Jaco Pastorius on Jones Street in the village. An interesting era to say the least. There was a knock on the door and Jaco motioned James to see who it was. When James opened the door there was Paul Butterfield fresh out of the hospital with his stomach stitched up holding a bottle of Four Roses in the air. Although it has been said that James idolizes Bob Gelorf for his humanitarian accomplishments James claims Jaco was a great humanitarian also
