"Fortunate" is a song written by R. Kelly and produced by Musze (Maxwell), released in 1999 as a single off the official soundtrack to the film Life. The single spent four weeks at #1 on the Billboard R&B charts, becoming Maxwell's first #1 and biggest hit until the release of "Pretty Wings" some 10 years later. It also peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. The song finds the protagonist describing a love unlike any other he's ever experienced, noting the vibrancy of his surroundings and life in general now that he's found his lover.
