"Foolish Beat" is a song by singer-songwriter Debbie Gibson released as the fourth single from her debut album, Out of the Blue (1987) on March 25, 1988. Foolish Beat topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in June 1988, giving Debbie the distinction of having the then-record for the youngest person to write, produce, & perform a #1 song entirely on her own, at age 17. The record was surpassed in 2007 by Soulja Boy with "Crank That" which released when he was 16 years old & topped the Hot 100 when he was 17.
