“Finesse” is about Drake’s admiration for an unknown woman who he is constantly thinking about. Drake explicitly states that he would have rather had a child with this woman than with Sophie Brussaux. In the weeks ahead of Scorpion’s release, several promotional billboards appeared across the world. One in Times Square read, “FASHION WEEK IS MORE YOUR THING THAN MINE,” which is a direct line from this song.
