The narrative of the album becomes slightly muddled on “Falling From Cloud 9”. Clearly the band, or at least the singer, is torn following their encounter with the angels in the previous song. The call to prophecy means putting their more mundane and earthly dreams aside, and much of this song seems either to lament this loss, feel unworthy of the task, or some more general malaise in the face of the apocalypse.
