A sometime collaborator with Will Oldham and, on 2014's Strong Feelings, The Band's Garth Hudson, Canadian Doug Paisley's father introduced him to Bob Dylan as he tried to wean him off The Beatles. The indoctrination evidently worked: witness the easy warmth of Drinking with a Friend, from 2018's characteristically deep but understated album, Starter Home.
