Much of the first half of this track suggests the characters of the band in the album’s story reach a point of doubt or dismissal of their commitment to their “deal with God”. While not overt, this may refer either to Jesus' pleading to be released of his responsibilities while in the Garden of Gethsemane or when Jesus cries out to God during his crucifixion, asking why he has been abandoned to suffer.
