"Down By The River" is a song by Neil Young that was originally released on his 1969 album "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere". Young famously revealed in the liner notes for his 1976 compilation album Decade that he wrote the song alongside other album tracks Down By The River and Cowgirl in the Sand in a delirious state while suffering from the flu and a 103 Β°F fever at his home in California. The song is noted for it's extended guitar solo performed by Young, which memorably opens with the same staccato note 38 times.
