"Geoff came over and said he'd seen Steve Martin's The Jerk, and there was an amazing track on ukulele, with a trumpet solo, and we needed something like that on the album. I said he had to be fucking joking. I called it 'The Jerk–Off' for ages — it's still on the board as that. I wrote this ukulele part, and Beth wrote the song, but I couldn't get with it at all, didn't like it. Geoff said he wanted to put these backing vocals on it, and I said I was having nothing to do with it.
