Song
Probably Son's most famous tune, and the most common among the ones he would play after his rediscovery in the 1960s, Death Letter Blues is an amalgamation of several songs he had written during his time playing in the delta region. Most notably this song draws on My Black Mama Part 2 and Walking Blues, both of which he recorded for Paramount in 1930. The song describes the narrator receiving a notice that a woman he had some sort of romantic relationship with (although notably not his wife) has passed away
