"DEATH" is the lead single and first track from PORTALS, the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Melanie Martinez, released on March 17th, 2023. DEATH was being used as a teaser to Melanie's awaited return from her 3-4 year hiatus after the release of K-12 and After School EP. It was released along with a visualizer. Its music video was released 1 week after. In the song, Melanie talks about the cycle of life and death, renaissance and rituals to connect with the dead.
