"Danny Boy" is part of Rufus Wainwright's self-titled debut album. Danny is a real person Wainwright fell for, and also the subject of his song "Baby." As Rufus sings, Danny broke his heart, but it wasn't his fault. Danny had the complication of being a drug addict and also being straight. Rufus says their affair was limited to "lying around and kissing," but Danny still burrowed into his heart. It was a painful memory, but one that gave Rufus impetus for two songs.
