“Dancing Madly Backwards” is The Flirts' third single from their third studio album Made In America. The song peaked at #47 in the US on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and #46 on Germany’s GfK Entertainment chart in 1984. In 1985, the Blondes, Brunettes & Redheads lineup of The Flirts (comprised of Christina Criscione, Debby Gaynor and Tricia Wygal) would appear in the German musical Der Formel Eins Film (released as Feel The Motion in the US) where they performed the song.
