Written by bassist Roger Waters, this acid rock track is one of Pink Floyd's first to deal with the subject of war, detailing the life of the titular Corporal and his wooden leg which he "won" in World War II. Musically, it's notable for both the harmonies in the chorus and the kazoo soli shortly afterwards. The song was described by critic Jim Miller as "much too Beatle-y," and was never performed live.
