“Cool Girl” is a song first uploaded to dodie’s secondary YouTube channel as a demo on April 10, 2020 as part of ALOSIA. ALOSIA stands for “A Lot of Songs in April.“ In another video posted on her primary channel, doddleoddle, titled “one last time, please – DEMO,” she says: "'I’m really bummed I didn’t put [Cool Girl] on [doddleoddle] ‘cause I really like it.'" On October 19th, dodie announced that the final version of “Cool Girl” would serve as the first single off her debut album, "Build a Problem".
