“Confidant” oozes an abrasive lyric. There’s a reason for it, too: he’s been burned way too many times. One particularly excruciating wound is still swollen and red. “I want to love you / But I can’t no more,” he agonizes over his pain. “Don’t hit my phone late at night / Don’t call me up more than twice / I’m not your friend / Not your only confidant,” he sings, the hook really sticking to the roof of the mouth. He makes his intentions quite clear
