"Cold Thoughts In An Open Mind" goes a different direction than Jarran's previous two hip-hop tracks. The simplistic approach to the song temporarily flagged him as a folk artist in many databases, causing Jarran himself considerable confusion. The album cover of the track is the first image of the famous Rorschach Test, which was a test developed to measure mental disorder by way of interpretation of completely ambiguous blots of ink.
