The song was written by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, with the lyrics written entirely by Lee. This song is loosely based on the movie called Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, starring Gary Cooper as a man from a small town who inherits money and moves to the big city. It has also been reported to be loosely based on the comic Mandrake the Magician.
