Phoebe mentions in an interview with Line of Best Fit that the album touches on concepts such as “the obsession of how somebody could kill another person.” Keeping with the theme, “Chelsea” is about Nancy Spungen who was killed in 1978 at Chelsea Hotel. Many believe she was killed by then-boyfriend Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols. “Chelsea” was a poem that I started writing when I was like 16, and I discovered it way later and was like “wow, this still works.” - Phoebe Bridgers via LA Record
