Carry Me Ohio is the 2nd song on Ghosts of the Great Highway, and it refers to Mark Kozelek's ex-lover, Katy, who passed away in the same year that the album released. She had also been a pivotal point in another of Kozelek's songs, being Katy Song by Red House Painters. Carry Me Ohio is regarded as one of the most hauntingly beautiful songs in Kozelek's discography.
