"Candy Perfume Girl" is a song recorded by American singer Madonna for her seventh studio album, Ray of Light. It was written by Madonna, William Orbit and Susannah Melvoin and produced by the singer and Orbit. The grunge track has been criticized for being the only song that doesn’t fit lyrically with the main theme of the album and the rest of the tracks. Susannah Melvoin, the main writer of the song, stated in fact that she wrote it thinking about the allure of drug addiction after her brother died of a heroin overdose in 1996.
