"Brown Sugar" is the opening track and lead single off the Rolling Stones' 1971 album Sticky Fingers. Featuring an iconic blues rock riff, it is included on multiple "Greatest hits" albums for the Stones, and was even named one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone (the magazine). However, the song has fallen out of rotation and is no longer performed live by the band due to its controversial lyrics, which seem to depict an enslaved Black woman being raped on a cotton plantation.
