“Brave New World” is the ninth track on Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds (1978), a theatrical concept album based on H.G. Wells’ seminal science fiction novel. This dramatic piece reintroduces the Artilleryman, voiced by David Essex, in a more delusional and visionary state. Contrasting with the earlier track “The Artilleryman and the Fighting Machine”, this song showcases the Artilleryman’s elaborate—yet clearly unworkable—plan to rebuild human society underground.
