"Both Sides, Now" is a song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, inspired by a passage in the 1959 novel, Henderson the Rain King, by Saul Bellow. The song appears on the album "Joni Mitchell: Live at the Second Fret", a live performance that took place on 17 November 1966 at The Second Fret, Philadelphia, PA, broadcast live by WRTI, Temple University's radio station that was released in 2014 on All Access Records. The first studio recorded was by Judy Collins for her 1967 "Wildflowers" album.
