"Blackbird" is a song written by Paul McCartney (credited to Lennon/McCartney) and recorded by The Beatles for their 1968 album The Beatles. The first night Linda Eastman, who would later become his wife, slept over, McCartney played it to the fans camped outside his house. Origins McCartney explained on Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road, aired in 2005, that the guitar accompaniment for "Blackbird" was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's Bourrée in E minor, a well-known lute piece, often played on the classical guitar.
