Lavigne composed the ethereal, piano-driven chorus in a Malaysian hotel in 2008, which was later made into a jingle in 2009 for the singer’s "Black Star" fragrance commercial. Lavigne subsequently decided to turn it into a full recording, and used it as the introduction to her fourth studio album "Goodbye Lullaby".
