Song
Kendrick kicks off the "Black Panther" soundtrack with a solitary verse speaking from the perspective of T'Challa, the main character, and alter ego of Black Panther. This is a full contrast to Kendrick’s second verse on “King’s Dead,” (appears later on the album) which speaks from the perspective of Erik Killmonger, who is Black Panther’s rival and is learned to be T'Challa’s cousin. The song also parallels Kendrick’s own perspective and responsibilities in society.
