On “BEST FOR ME,” Australian rapper and singer The Kid LAROI discusses his need to focus on himself and break free from a toxic, betrayal-ridden relationship. The track shares a nearly identical instrumental with Jaden’s September 2014 track, “Blue Ocean,” which in turn samples Justin Timberlake’s March 2013 track, “Blue Ocean Floor.” After originally previewing it in a July 2020 Caffeine Livestream, LAROI previewed the track in an Instagram post on March 28, 2021, while simultaneously suggesting its release for May 1.
