The guitar part in "Beneath The Green" wiggled its way out of years of vamping Darius would do with the Beatles song "Blackbird." The lyrics were written on a sleepless night in a hotel in Hampton Virginia. After a couple years of tweaking the chord arrangement he finally decided to record it. It was recorded in three sessions over two days in a rented room in Eugene Oregon.
