"Baby I" is a song about Ariana's deep love and adoration for her significant other. She expresses her feelings for him but struggles to put them into words because they are so intense. In the first verse, Grande sings about her love being so deep that she doesn't know where to start. She loves him more than anything, but words can't express what's in her heart. In the pre-chorus, she admits that when she tries to explain her feelings, she sounds crazy, gets tongue-tied, and can't find the right words.
